We have in our neighborhoods at Espíritu what others in the corridor are scrambling to build: a finished and lived-in community with an enviable hotel, hundreds of occupied homes, and an established social network of owners. Our community is not only mostly built-out, but also self-contained.

Del Mar Development creates Mexico’s premier luxury communities, distinguished for their design, quality management, lifestyle and enduring value.

For decades, Del Mar Development has been successfully developing resort residential land projects in Mexico. It all began in 1994 when two Houston friends and business associates, Ron Hatfield and Kenneth Schnitzer, traveled to Los Cabos to play the new Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course in the master planned Palmilla community. Both men were visionaries with a track record for successful developments, and were blown away by the pristine, untouched Palmilla oceanfront. They purchased a sliver of land next to the Palmilla Hotel, now the One&Only Palmilla, and broke ground in 1995 on Cabo’s premier luxury community, Villas Del Mar.

They began with five homes on the beach, all of which sold before completion, and soon realized the potential to build a world-class residential resort community, distinguished by excellence in design, quality and management. The company they founded, Del Mar Development, would ultimately set the standard for high-end residential development in Mexico.

Espíritu at Palmilla is owned by MSD Capital and managed by Ron Hatfield, ensuring long-term viability and strength.
